Definition

Breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty is a procedure in which artificial implants are placed in the chest to enlarge the size and/or change the shape of the breasts. Breast implants are made of a hypoallergenic material (silicone rubber) and filled with either saline or silicone. There are several approaches to breast implantation each creating a slightly different aesthetic effect. Breast augmentation has become one of the most sought after cosmetic surgeries.
