If you have a special device to provide access to a vein such as a Port-a-Cath or a PICC line, ask the nurse about how to care for such a device in between cycles of chemotherapy. There are certain things that need to be done in order to keep the site clean and dry and to minimize infection. Medical staff should provide you with an informational brochure of how to care for this device.
