Normal Results

Most people can expect nearly ideal visually acuity after phakic intraocular lens implantation. Of large groups of patients followed in clinical trials of various phakic IOLs, 100 percent have better than 20/80 vision and most achieve better...

visual acuity than that. In large studies all patients with Visian ICL lenses had 20/30 vision or better. With Verisyse, 90 percent of patients had 20/30 vision or better (20/20 is considered normal).

Unlike LASIK and other ablative procedures, phakic intraocular lenses correct vision immediately after placement. Patients report greatly improved visual acuity the same day of the implantation.

Other Information

Approximately 56% of all patients achieve results of 20/20 or better and over 90% achieve 20/40 or better (which is good enough to drive without corrective lenses in most regions).1 Those with moderate to high myopia (greater than 7 diopters) have a lesser chance of achieving that result. As technique and technology improve, the results continue to improve.
