If the skin around the radiotherapy treated area breaks down, it is important to keep it clean and free of infection. Infections during cancer and cancer treatment can be very serious events. Anyone having external radiation therapy is already experiencing a significant amount of electromagnetic radiation to the skin in one or more areas. Remember to protect treated skin from the sun’s radiation. This can be achieved by wearing loose fitting clothing and sunblocking lotions of SPF level 15 or higher.
