high pressure which can lead to serious damage, even blindness. Selective laser trabeculoplasty is a special from of laser eye surgery that is used to disrupt certain cells within the eye that may be occluding or preventing movement of fluid out of the eye. Targeting specific cells within the eye with a particular form of laser light energy allows the majority of the eye’s natural drainage system to be left intact. The biggest advantage of SLT over older therapies, such as argon laser trabeculoplasty, is that selective laser trabeculoplasty can be performed multiple times if necessary.

Other Information

Approximately 56% of all patients achieve results of 20/20 or better and over 90% achieve 20/40 or better (which is good enough to drive without corrective lenses in most regions).1 Those with moderate to high myopia (greater than 7 diopters) have a lesser chance of achieving that result. As technique and technology improve, the results continue to improve.
