Mostly everyone has heard of tonsillectomy, that is, a surgery to remove the tonsils; but the location of the tonsils is often no more clear than "somewhere in the throat." A tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure in which the tonsils are removed. Sometimes the adenoids are removed at the same time.
In 2000 a study showed that forty-five percent of normal adults snore at least occasionally, and 25 percent are habitual snorers. Studies indicated that Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty was 75 to 100% effective in eliminating or significantly reducing snoring.
