Wegovy cost without insurance
Wegovy is a prescription semaglutide injection taken once a week.
General information, not medical advice. Last reviewed: pending clinical review.
Novo Nordisk sells the Wegovy pen to people paying for it themselves through NovoCare Pharmacy, Novo Nordisk’s self-pay program. The price depends on the dose, and the dose rises on the schedule on the label — so the first month’s price is not the price of the months after it. Every figure on this page is a published price with its source beside it.

What each price depends on, by form and dose, as Novo Nordisk states it.
- Introductory price, 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg: New self-pay patients only; first 2 monthly fills; offer through December 31, 2026
- 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg: Self-pay standard price after the two introductory fills
- 7.2 mg: Self-pay standard price
Why the dose matters to the price
The dose rises on the schedule on the label, and the price is set by the dose. The label’s schedule is inside, cited.
- The label’s schedule is once a week: 0.25 mg for weeks 1 to 4, 0.5 mg for weeks 5 to 8, 1 mg for weeks 9 to 12, 1.7 mg for weeks 13 to 16, and the maintenance dose from week 17.Source: FDA-approved label for Wegovy (DailyMed) (opens in a new tab), label revised 6/2026. Checked October 11, 2026.
- For weight reduction in adults the label’s maintenance dose is 1.7 mg or 2.4 mg once a week, with 2.4 mg recommended. After at least four weeks on 2.4 mg, the label allows the dose to be raised to a maximum of 7.2 mg once a week, which is sold as Wegovy HD.Source: FDA-approved label for Wegovy (DailyMed) (opens in a new tab), label revised 6/2026. What a first year of Wegovy costs
13 fills of 28 days, priced from Novo Nordisk’s list along the dose schedule on the label: $4,237 to $4,637, depending on the dose the schedule levels off at. Arithmetic on a price list, not a prediction or a recommendation of any dose: a prescriber sets the schedule, and a slower one changes the sum.

Will insurance or Medicare cover it?

How long will I pay?
For as long as the medicine is taken. What the label is for, and what it reports about stopping, are inside, cited.
- The label for Wegovy injection is for use with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity: to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with cardiovascular disease and obesity or overweight; to reduce excess body weight and maintain the reduction in adults and children 12 and older with obesity, and in adults with overweight and a weight-related condition; and for MASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis in adults.Source: FDA-approved label for Wegovy (DailyMed) (opens in a new tab), label revised 6/2026. Checked October 11, 2026.
- The label reports a study (section 14.2, Study 5) in which 902 patients took Wegovy for a 20-week run-in and the 803 who reached 2.4 mg were then randomized to continue it or to switch to placebo. From week 20 to week 68, body weight changed by +6.9% on placebo and −7.9% on Wegovy. The label notes these results may not reflect patients first starting, because those who stopped during the run-in were not randomized.Source: FDA-approved label for Wegovy (DailyMed) (opens in a new tab), label revised 6/2026. Questions people ask about Wegovy cost
6 questions, each answered from the prices on this page.
- How much is Wegovy without insurance?
- Novo Nordisk sells the Wegovy pen to self-pay patients for $349 to $399 a month, depending on the dose: $349 at 0.25 mg and $399 at 7.2 mg. Those are the manufacturer’s published prices as seen on October 11, 2026; a prescriber’s visit is separate. Every dose

- What does a telehealth program add to the cost of Wegovy?
